These are excellent questions to ask yourself in preparation for your doctoral education experience. It is easy to become either caught up in the excitement of enriching your educational background or in pushing yourself to obtain a terminal degree as a means to an end without fulling considering the pesky details of a dissertation topic. Be conscience of your choice in dissertation topic. Choose an area of research that you will love - or can tolerate - for several years. In addition to having chosen a topic of interest to you (a primary requirement!), you must also understand its relevance in your field. Do not be redundant, but consider what will add to the existing knowledge base. These additional thoughts will enhance you educational experience and get you to that degree in a speedier fashion.
