Welcome to workingwithothers.com

Welcome to Workingwithothers.com! This site is dedicated to an ongoing conversation among all concerned about building and sustaining effective working relationships. The provocative posts will hopefully generate follow-up comments and more posts about how to get work done through and with others in a way that is both satisfying and effective.

The last time our teachers evaluated us on our ability to “work and play well with others was in kindergarten. Then, after we complete our formal education we are thrown into the work place and told to once again to “work and play well with others without much guidance on how to do that.

At a recent weeklong seminar for new managers, one of the participants who holds an MBA from one of the top 5 business schools told me, “my professors never talked about any of this stuff in B-school. I learned how to be an accountant but not how to work with people. Now that I’m a manager, I do working with people, not accounting.

So this site is for anyone who would like to learn more about effectively working with others. Topics will range from getting along with co-workers to how to be an effective manager to examples – both good and not so good – of what it really means to work and play well with others.
